The paradise garden is known to stimulate all five senses: smell, sound, sight, taste and touch. Based on the old Islamic culture, the garden was a place to get protection and relief from the severity of the hot day. Gardeners use fragrant flowers to delight the nose, flowing streams or fountains to capture the ears, amazing color to attract the eyes, edible berries and fruits for the mouth, and textures in plants or stones to encourage touch. As with most Middle Eastern architecture, the gardens are laid out in square patterns or geometric pattern. z |
